SOLOISTS TO ADD LIGHTHEARTED SOUNDS TO CONCERT

Three vocal soloists have been chosen to add a special touch of merry music to the Village Chorale annual winter concert balancing the program of selections by the Masters and the selections of African, Hebrew, and Yiddish languages to be performed at the “Together for the Holidays” concert in Clubhouse 3 on December 15th.

Soloists Shirley Behar, Al Gross and Del Matonic were chosen from several candidates to have a place in the program. Shirley joined the Chorale in 2006 with an 18 year history of Choral and Solo singing and has a degree as a piano teacher. Alvin Gross is new to the Chorale this semester and is fairly recent to choral and solo singing. A Chorale member since January 2005, Del was interested in music since a child and has sung choral music seriously for 20 years.

A team of Saddleback College Applied Voice Students: Rhea D’Aliesio, Ben Rosan, and Karen Vanderbroek was on hand to serve with Director H. Doug Custance as Jury for the selections.

Under the baton of Mr. Custance and with the assistance of Juanita Tsu at the piano Chorale members are enjoying a busy schedule of rehearsing and ticket selling in preparation for their concert. Rehearsals continue every Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. in Clubhouse 3 as a class offered each semester through the Emeritus Institute program of Saddleback College.

Tickets may be purchased from any of the 80 chorale members at $6.00 but the price will increase to a $7.00 purchase closer to the event. Call 454-0553 for ticket information.
